Sam said he didn't want anything for his birthday this year, he just wanted to spend time with me (how sweet is that?...either that or I'm just a really bad gift giver!) Anyway, I got him a board game (that we played last night after we put T to bed that ended up to be really fun!) and asked Roo to watch T today while we went to get pedicures together. It was so nice a relaxing to spend the afternoon with Sam getting pedicures.

And T had so much fun playing with Lucy that he wasn't even that excited when we went to pick him up, he was probably bummed we were there! Thanks so much Roo!!

Happy Birthday Sammy!
Thanks for letting me pamper myself for your birthday :) xoxo

Happy Birthday my Sam!!
Sam turned the big 3-0 today and to celebrate we got a babysitter and went out to a nice dinner. It was so great. We hadn't gone out alone in what seems like forever!!

Babes, you are the best thing to ever happen to me. I'm so lucky that you're mine. Love you!!

I'm not planning on bringing these out for another 2 months....don't worry. I love Christmas, but not as much as our neighbor who already has his Christmas blow-up decorations all over his front yard. (Though I should give him a break, we think he's trying to sell them) Anyway, I wanted to sew today and I've had these projects in the back of my mind for a while now.

This is how T reacted when I tried to have him try on his new tie. You think he likes it?
Little stinker...

Sam took some Maternity pictures of me today. He did such a great job, I think they look professional... (I like them all, but I love the 1st one! Sorry if it totally grosses you out.)

It seems like Sam was just taking pictures of me pregnant with this big boy a few weeks ago. Gees!! Time goes way too fast.

I love my two boys so much. Thanks for taking your Saturday (football day!) to take pictures.
Love you honey.

Today we went to the arcade in the mall with Tale.

It was great! We spent a total of .50 cents for ski ball and we were there playing for at least an hour! I'm all about cheap activities. Thanks Kehau!

Our dads have seminar every Thursday night, and they have pizza as part of their class. So tonight we got together for a pizza party of our own!

9.21.2010

Today we went to Syracuse, where the Mac store replaced my broken iphone! yay, can you believe it? Because I still can't. I thought they were going to say, sorry it's your fault it's broken and send us on our way...but they didn't, and I have a new phone! yay! While we were there at the mall, T and Sam rode around on the merry-go-round.

We got a new crib sheet for sister at Pottery Barn Kids, and while we were there, I couldn't resist putting this cute little costume on T. (we didn't buy it, we already have a great Halloween costume thanks to my mom, but I couldn't help myself, I knew he'd look so cute!)

AND we went out to dinner at this great little BBQ place. While we were waiting for our table, this guy asked if we had a camera and wanted to take a picture of T sitting on his Harley. Ha. What a nice guy huh? Course we took him up on his offer.

I'm so glad that Sam gets out of school early on Tuesdays and had the idea to go up today. We had a great time.

Back in the day when I taught preschool and kindergarten, the kids loved listening to Dr. Jean's songs. I downloaded a few of my favorite songs of hers for us to listen to, even though I thought T was way too young to do the actions and love it like the preschool kids did, but boy was a wrong! He totally does all the actions and it's so cute. Here's a video of him doing the Bear Hunt. (At the beginning she says, "pack your backpack..bring some crackers..." and T always says, OKAY! and runs to the pantry. That's why there's a box of crackers next to him that he's digging into. HA!

here's Kiss Your Brain. I love this one. (skip through the beginning...the part where I'm singing, it's really embarrassing, but I'm willing to let you hear how retarded I sound so that you can see how cute it is when T's kisses his brain at the end.)

Today in nursery at church, the kids were playing with bean bags..throwing them into a box. T thought it was the best thing ever so when we got home we made some bean (rice) bags of our own.

I can't believe I didn't think of making bean bags until today, it was the easiest project ever. And T had so much fun with them tonight. (nice action shot huh?! :) )

Nesting...
We have her room ready. I love it. Now T points to his old crib and says, "sissa's bed." It's pretty darn cute. I think he's excited to share a room with her. (We'll see how he feels about it during the midnight wake up calls.)

I filled her drawers with new (and T's old...let's be honest..we're students! But actually mostly new...thanks to my Grandma Kay!!) clothes and blankets washed in Dreft (yummm..such a great smell) and I bought a pack of my favorite NB diapers to keep on the changing table. (Thanks Camilla for the girly changing pad cover! We were just going to use our old blue ones, but this one is so much cuter!) And I got out my old diaper bag, that I'm actually really excited to use again. I loved it and I still love it :)

...and I've made so many onesies for her that she'll have a different one to wear for the first 3 months of life. ha! I still have a whole stack left to make. I can't believe how many white onesies T had as a newborn! (and I didn't have a sewing machine back then so they just stayed white with no designs, sorry T)

T's been talking a lot about "sissa." lately. When we ask him where sister is, he'll usually lift up his shirt and rub his belly...hehe. Even though we still have at least 4 weeks to go, (She has to stay cooking in there at least until my mom gets here!) I think we're about ready for her. We're sure getting excited around here!

(I made the clothes hanging on the clothesline from a tutorial off of my favorite crafy blog www.makeitandloveit.blogspot.com. Check it out if you haven't, it's such a fun blog)

9.16.2010

T is really into doing everything..EVERYTHING..by himself. Which is actually perfectly fine with me. ha. I love that he has to go up the stairs to our apartment by himself. It's great that he likes to get his shoes on without help, and throw his diapers away in the diaper genie on his own. This new found independence actually came at the perfect time because I was a little worried how I was going to get 2 kids up and down the stairs to our place, and now (even though it takes him a half hour to do it) T can get up and down the stairs just fine on his own! Tonight I was putting the toothpaste on his toothbrush and he grabbed the toothpaste and goes,"self." ha. I love it. It's making my job easy. He's started doing everything on his own!

Tonight after dinner he wanted to paint so after he helped me clean up dinner, we got out the paints..and oh man! I have created a monster!! ha! The second I handed him the paintbrushes, he goes, "hand, self." ha. And starts painting away on his hand. Too funny. I knew I'd regret showing him how to finger paint! In the back of my mind as I was showing him the other day I thought..."don't do it!" I just totally didn't even think that he'd like it! ha. He was SUCH a mess tonight, paint all over his tummy and up and down his arms. ha! Oh well. At least he's getting over his fear of being dirty.

Plus, I love those little hand prints. I think they're so cute.

*Phone update-since there isn't a MAC store in our town we have to drive to the nearest city to try to get my phone fixed. (Rice was not successful) We ran down to the AT&T store today and got the cheapest phone they have just so we can at least be in touch (have you ever tried going without your phone??! Sam and I were emailing back and forth all day today...ha! How did people live without cell phones?!) for the next little while until we can head up to the MAC store. It's actually not a bad little phone, and I'm perfectly fine using it. It makes calls and texts and that's all I really need.
Anyway, I don't know anybody's number by heart except Sam, mom and dad... so if you get a chance will you text me and tell me your number and who you are so I can save you in my new sweet new phone? Ha. (Because right now I have 3 numbers saved in my phone...2 are my parents..sad huh?)

Oh my heck, I have to add to today's post, because I just peeked in at T and saw this...HA! I love it!

This is the 2nd time I've found him like this...you think he likes it? ha! I lifted him up on his bed and he opened his eyes so I told him he'd be more comfortable with his feet up and he just went right back to sleep. haha. Funny guy!
While we're on the subject, T is doing so great in his toddler bed! I'm so surprised at how well he transitioned to it. I know I'm biased, obviously, but I swear he's the easiest kid ever. He goes down for a nap everyday when I tell him it's time for nap. He'll walk in his room, climb up in bed and sleep. He does it at night to. He never puts up a fight, or comes out of his room before he sleeps (he did that a few days right after he got the new bed, but he hasn't done it for like 5 days now!) AND he's sleeping in longer in the morning then he ever did in his crib. Weird I know, but it's true. I love seeing him walk out of his room in the morning. The 1st thing he always says to me every morning, without fail is, "kuker bed." ha.
Anyway, I'm really proud of him. He's always surprising me. I knew he could do it, but I didn't think it'd be this easy to move him to a bed. What a guy!

My poor phone is sitting in a bag of rice.

Today during our walk, I threw it in the basket part of my stroller with T's juice and during the walk, the juice leaked all over my phone, resulting in water damage. This is my 3rd iphone! I love the iphone, so much! But I'm pretty convinced that mom's with small children should avoid fancy/expensive phones and go for the free flip phone that comes with your plan. I promised Sam (since this was my 3rd...) that I'd take good care of this one, and that I wouldn't let T touch it. I was scared to come home and tell him what had happened. Which brings me to my next thought...I love my husband so much! He is seriously the best. He didn't even ask why I was so dumb or question anything, he just tried to fix it and he put it in the rice bag (hopefully that might soak up the liquid?) and said. "No big deal. Don't apologize. Well figure it out." Anyway, I hope hope HOPE it's working in the morning. If not...it's been fun having a great phone, but I'll have to switch to a cheapo again...so sad.

9.14.2010

T is an abnormally clean kid, so I was pretty surprised today that when I showed him how to finger paint, he was way into it...

Until he looked at his hand...I snapped this picture right before he said, "dirty! dirty!"
We washed his hands and then he was done painting. ha.

We also got in some sewing today. T loves to sew! Whenever I sit down at the sewing machine he comes up to me and says, "help. Help." He's a pretty good little helper.

Today I asked Sam what he thought the odds were of our baby being born before Halloween. He said, 100% (she's due the day after Halloween and T was 2 weeks early...but who knows) I liked that answer because I've been wanting to make her a little Halloween outfit for a while now and today I finally did it. I love it. I decided that even if she comes after Halloween, she can wear it in November too...for Thanksgiving, right?

Fall is my favorite time of year and I love that both my babies have been (& will be) born right in the heart of the fall season. And I love that it's starting to feel like fall (and look like fall!) here.

Today we went raspberry picking. It was so fun, even though T apparently thought we were supposed to eat them as we picked them :) I think about half the raspberries we picked ended up in the bucket and half ended up in T's belly...

Yummmm...Sam's making raspberry jam right now :) The kitchen smells so good!

PS. the big boy bed went so well last night! T slept all night long and even though he woke up a little earlier then usual, he didn't get up at all in the middle of the night. He was so proud of himself when he came out of his room this morning, it really was so cute :)
Tonight, I put him to sleep and he came out. Right when he came out, I put him back in bed told him it was time to go to bed and goodnight... He came out again, and I put him right back and said the same thing and he stayed! It only took 2 times and he went right to bed! I couldn't believe it. I'm so proud of my little (big!) dude :)

Big Boy!!
After thinking about it for a long time, we decided to put T in a big boy toddler bed. We wanted to free up the crib for the new baby but didn't know if T was quite ready for the freedom to get in & out (mostly out...ha) of bed when he wanted to. We knew we had to either do it now (with at least 6 weeks before the baby gets here) or wait until like January so he didn't feel like sister took over his bed. Anyway we decided to do it now and well, no turning back....! I've been talking to him about his big boy bed for a long time, and he seemed really excited about it. It arrived today and he had a great time putting it together with Dad.

Trying it out...
Seems to like it....?!

Sam didn't get home from school until 7:30 tonight and well, I didn't want to try to assemble the bed without him...it'd surely break if I did it alone... So by the time we got it put together, it was way past T's bedtime. He laid down and he looked super tired so we said, "goodnight..love you! see you in the morning..." and we closed the door and just laughed. Haha. I don't really know why it was so funny!? Anyway, about 5 minutes later, he came strolling out. He was so proud of himself, he thought it was so great. He'd go in and lay in bed and come out and after doing that a few times we just let him stay up for a while. Sam's in his room now, sleeping next to him on the floor...it's been quiet for about 20 minutes, so I'm assuming they're probably both asleep! (Anyone who knows Sam knows he can sleep anywhere. ha!)
Anyway, congratulations on your big boy bed T! You're growing up so fast!
