Nothing new or super exciting going on. I just can't believe how fast our kids are growing up! At least once a day I look at them and can't believe that they're mine and that I'm a mom and they are so old. It's nuts. I love 'em like crazy.

It rained poured all morning! As I rushed out of the house to run Tucker to school, I came out the door to see this--Oh I thought they looked so sweet. I love these two kids.
That was before preschool--this was after. Still pouring!! We were already soaked from being outside, picking Tucker up, so we figured we'd just play in the rain! It was way fun.

Have I mentioned how much i LOVE Saturdays? Oh man I look forward to Saturdays all week...I love love love em. Every Saturday (really---EVERY one!) we load everyone in the car-dogs and all--and go to Sam's office to play outside. They have a mile long walking path and we can let the dogs and kids run around. After we always (really---always!) grab donuts & hot chocolate. I love it. Saturday mornings are the best.
Kids got new shoes today. They were being super crazy in the shoe store and I'm sure we were bugging everyone else there but I thought they looked cute hiding under the table and I took a picture. ha. Oh well. They DID look cute. Sorry to everyone there.

Early morning walks with the kids make me happy.
Made homemade moonsand today! It was so fun. Even Tucker (cleanest kid around) dug right in...(after seeing how much fun Maizie was having ha ha)
(Homemade moonsand: 8 Cups flour + 1 cup baby oil & mix)

The morning weather here has been perfect! Chilly enough for sweatshirts but nice enough to take the sweatshirt off after running around for a little while. This morning the kids and I went to one of our favorite spots to walk and with nothing on our agenda today spent over 2 hours exploring. We had the best time. It was perfect. (we even went to the coffee shop for hot chocolate after! I LOVE this cooler weather.)
More pictures from today.
It was a good day.

With Tucker in preschool 3 mornings a week now, Maizie and I are getting a lot more mother-daughter quality girly time. (we do totally miss him. She reminds me the whole time he's gone that he's just at preschool and we'll be picking him up soon...haha)
We go to the park a lot.
One day made banana bread.
Maze looked so cute in her apron from Grandma Robyn.
Today we went to the beach with some friends. There's a great spot on Lake Erie just 20 mi. away from us. The weather was perfect & we were just about the only people there! We had a blast. Thanks for the fun day Vicki, Ryker and Ethney!
I love these crazy kids.

I was in the other room a few days ago when I heard Maizie talking to someone--"look at my gorgeous nails! Do you like them Ollie?" ha ha ha. I peeked in to see what was going on and I found her like this, just sitting on Ollie chatting with him about her nails that we'd just painted. HA. I couldn't believe he was just sitting there (listening). ha. Course I grabbed my phone and snapped some pictures. What a good doggie.
Tucker just cracks me up. He's really into superheros right now, and he's really into dressing himself so he comes downstairs in the morning with some pretty sweet outfits on.

After totally begging us to get her ears pierced--seriously, she really was. We finally caved and did it. (She loves em!)
And Tucker started up preschool again today. He has the same teacher as last year, however she got married over the summer so he keeps reminding me that his teacher isn't Miss Spencer anymore, she's Mrs. Ellis. ha ha. He was so happy to start up again! He didn't even look back when I dropped him off this morning--he couldn't have gotten rid of us faster. (Maizie was sad to say goodbye though and seemed pretty torn up that she couldn't stay with him at preschool.)
My kids are growing up too fast.

Sam and I just got home from the most amazing vacation to Costa Rica. Thanks to Sam's parents who drove all the way out here (24 hr drive--2 days!) to watch the kids for a week. I don't even know how to thank them enough. I knew they were in good hands and though we missed them like crazy it was amazing to spend time alone with Sam in Costa Rica. We took a million pictures--it was the most beautiful place that I've ever been. Ever! Thanks Sam for planning the greatest vacation and to our friends Cristina & Giovianni, our good friends who we met in Ithaca during grad school. They live in Costa Rica and were amazing hosts. They told us where to go--what to do--invited us out to their farm for 2 nights, put us up in the hotel that Giovianni owns in San Jose (Balmoral, it's perfect! check it out if you're headed that way!) cooked us meals, took us out, and on and on and on. It was amazing and I already miss practicing my horrible Spanish, driving on crazy dirt roads, eating good and crazy new foods, being adventurous, and spending all day with Sam.
Day 1 San Jose-River Rafting.
Day 2 Aranal Volcano. Stayed in the most amazing hotel where we had our own cabana and got totally pampered at the spa.
Day 3: zip line!
Day 4-5: the Beach. Stayed in another great hotel. Last picture was the view from our room. Was the most amazing beach I'd ever been to. We brought home about 10 lbs of seashells that we found for the kids.
Day 6-7: met up with Giovianni and Cristina at their farm. Horses, bikes, swimming, talking to monkeys in the trees. It was wonderful...and so fun to see them again.
We tried to keep up with the Olympic action while we were there. We caught the torch lighting at a tiny gas station on our drive to the farm and practiced our Spanish (Giovianni had to help a lot) reading the newspapers.
What a crazy, beautiful, fun, perfect little country. We had the best time. I'm so glad we had the kids to come home to because I would've been totally depressed to leave if we didn't. ha ha. really. It was so great to see the kids again! They were so stoked to see us and course we squeezed them and kissed them all over for hours when we got home. Thanks again Robyn, Gene and Nolan for watching the kids. I never worried about them once, I knew they were in great hands. And thanks to Sam for the most amazing vacation of my life! I really loved every minute of it.
