We haven't been back to Utah in a whole year and a half (sheesh! We've gotta get back there!!), it had been so long since I'd seen a friend from high school, it was so so SO fun to get together with a few of my old high school friends this weekend and see them and their cute kiddos. (even got to meet 2 new babies!) A million thanks to Liza for planning such a fun camping trip. It was just a short 2 1/2 hr drive for us to meet up with them in Michigan, at a perfect spot right on the lake. Kids loved it. We loved it. It was a blast. Plus, Tucker had been begging to go camping so he was super stoked about it. The kids did great on their first camping trip, and they're already wanting to go camping again. Here are about a million pictures. It was so pretty and the kids looked so cute roughing it that I just couldn't resist.

Right when we got to the beach the 1st day--the sky got all dark and out of nowhere came a crazy storm! It started out ok, so we stayed in the water hoping it would just blow over, but before we knew it, it had turned to super hard hail! All the kids were crying, and we didn't have any shelter. Pete and Jess are so smart, they held up their blanket and made a cave for the kids so they wouldn't get pelted with rain. The kids not only stopped crying, but they loved it and couldn't stop laughing! HA! Thanks Pete and Jess!

(Liza, me & Jess--so weird to be together with all of our husbands and kids, still feels like we should be in high school talking about boys and class and kissing. ha ha. Now we're all grown up adults...weird.)

Beach day #2 was perfect. The weather was perfect. The sand was so nice and soft. The beach is so much fun with kids and they loved playing with all their new friends.

Back at camp the kids roasted Hot Dogs and played, played, played.

We camped in style with a 6 man tent and 2 air mattresses. Kids slept great :)

Back home--cleaning all the camping gear. Dad's are so much fun!

I never thought we'd be living out here, so far from Utah, and especially all at the same time. I'm so happy we had a chance to meet up! Thanks for planning it Lize! We had a blast.

Swimming, eating popsicles, going to the Fair, just being silly. Summer is flying by.

(Tucker wants to be just like Sam. Last night, he put on his own clothes (asked for help with the buttons) and waited for Dad to get home so that he could show him his "daddy clothes" ha ha. Made me laugh.

(Maizie is just always making me laugh. She is so silly)

On July 5th a big storm came through our town! It was crazy. It came out of nowhere. It was sunny one minute then super dark, windy & rainy the next. It left just as fast as it came, it was nuts. After the storm we walked outside with the rest of our neighborhood to find the damage the storm had left behind. How crazy!

We lost our power for 14 hours! It was a real adventure--a whole night without power! It was too hot to sleep in our rooms upstairs, so we had a sleepover on the main floor and used a flashlight to read stories.
(we feel so blessed that we only had one night without power-nearby towns have been out of power for a week or more!)
Friday night a neighbor that we don't even know brought over a bunch of construction toys & tools for the kids. They have been loving playing with them. We have such nice neighbors!

Saturday we checked out the Ann Arbor farmers market. It was so super hot! At one point, Tucker goes,"mom-my hair is all wet!" ha ha. But, we love Farmers Markets, and we love Ann Arbor, and we're really excited about all the great produce we snagged while we were there. Tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, peppers, peaches & blueberries. Only about half the blueberries make it home, the kids loved them!

My little adventurer all tuckered out. Whew. What a fun day.

This summer is flying by! How is is already the 2nd week of July?!

Happy 4th of July!
Our neighborhood always goes a bit crazy on the 4th. Lots of fireworks, lots of parties and lots of kids playing in the streets. No need to go anywhere for a firework show--people contribute plenty of illegal fireworks (Michigan is literally 5 minutes away) and we have our own show right in our front yards. We think it's pretty great.
